Ranger Projects undertook the highly sensitive heritage works on one of the most famous Australian buildings. The works to the rear verandahs and courtyard roofs entailed, removal of existing surfaces, repairs and re-instatement of ultra-thin topping slabs. The 30mm thick poly fibre concrete reinforced slabs had tiny falls in over 6 m distance to ensure surface water flow and protect the existing building.
Removal of existing surfaces were completed by using small machinery, hand labour and weight calculated bins so as to not affect the structure. 160t cranes and 1.5t wheeled bins were used to lift concrete tiles from the roofs.
Repair works under the heritage doors and detailed removal of decrepit surfaces were also part of the detailed specifications.
The works were managed by Manteena Security division and overseen by DJAS Architecture.
